UK Travel with the New ETA

Streamline Your UK Travel with the New ETA!

The UK has introduced a new travel authorisation system called the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), which will apply to visitors from certain countries. This new requirement is part of the UK government’s efforts to improve border security and streamline travel procedures.

What is the ETA?

The ETA is an electronic travel authorisation that allows travellers to visit the UK for short stays, for tourism, business or transit. It will be required for citizens of countries that previously did not need a visa to visit the UK. Much like the Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA) used in the United States, the ETA will involve a quick and simple online application process, granting travellers permission to enter the UK.

What you can do with an ETA

You can get an ETA instead of a visa if you are:

  • coming to the UK up to 6 months for tourism, visiting family and friends, business or short-term study
  • coming to the UK for up to 3 months on the Creative Worker visa concession
  • coming to the UK for a permitted paid engagement
  • transiting through the UK – including if you are not going through UK border control
If you require professional guidance on debt recovery or need assistance in handling debt collection disputes our team at Portway Solicitors is here to help.
